Spreading Some Holiday Cheer

This week has been really quiet since we both got sick and have been sleeping a lot. However, last weekend we attended one of the most fun events of the year; The Second Annual "Stumblin Santa" pub crawl through Waikiki with some old and new friends! About 30 of us (to start out with...we grew in numbers as the night went on) gathered to attempt to hit "the twelve bars of Christmas" before the end of the night, and to spread some holiday cheer to unsuspecting tourists while we were at it. All were dressed to impress...

Stacey's spot on the morning news

My Architecture firm's hard-working PR people decided it would be a good idea to send one of us on the local morning news show to showcase our "recycled holiday ornaments" and get a little free exposure...guess who got nominated to go?

PS

We aren’t finished unpacking yet, but I thought I’d share this fun little picture taken by Ethan...it’s the view from our bedroom! Diamond Head rising majestically from behind a hideous stucco monstrosity. And yes that is green indoor-outdoor carpet on our lanai. Don't hate.

Not a terrible sight to wake up to each morning (I can learn to overlook the house...and the carpet).

This is not in my job description...

Here is what I did at work today...we are making our Christmas tree "green" this year by making ornaments with items recycled from around the office. Witness my craftiness, oh yeah! (I have no idea why an architecture office would have pipe cleaners....)

Updates, or "How to go through three vehicles in 28 hours"

Sorry for setting up shop and then abandoning...we’ve had quite the week here! I will post a re-cap of the lovely North Shore Thanksgiving feast-o-rama with friends later, this post is regarding the events after Thanksgiving. Here’s the quick ‘n dirty story:

11.28.08 Woke up on the Day After Thanksgiving to a gorgeous North Shore morning and a missing car (vehicle #1). This, our only car, was full of stuff since we decided to move in to a new apartment during Thanksgiving weekend. We spent the morning filing police reports for the missing car...in the meantime a second batch of thieves crept in to the driveway and took off with three more surfboards from atop Katie’s car! DOH!

After the same policemen came back and more reports were filed, we then abandoned the thievery hot-bed and hit the beach for the afternoon. It was the second jewel of the Triple Crown and pretty exciting. The ladies were shredding! And then the waves picked up and the men went out!

Somewhere in this pic is Andy Irons.

After the beach Ethan and I borrowed Darren’s truck (vehicle #2) so we could commence with the move. We headed back to town and moved all evening. The next morning we tried to fit an early-morning beach swim in before the moving craziness began again...but then Darren’s truck key mysteriously disappeared and we were stuck in the parking lot with wheels but no way to get the wheels moving. DOH again! It began to seem like someone was telling us not to move this weekend...

Ever the determined pair, we recalled that our insurance will cover us for a rental car until the stolen car is recovered! So we left the keyless truck and trekked down to get a rental car (vehicle #3). The rental car dude felt sorry for us and gave us a rather large 4-door Chevy truck so we could finally get back to the moving that was supposed to be happening.

So, after some setbacks we are finally moved in to the new place and the stolen car has been recovered! But, of course, that is an entirely other store in and of itself...more to come from the (not so) simple life saga...
